DUCTWORK REQUIREMENTS FOR RENEWAIRE BYPASS UNITS

Product Notice: This product notice is specific to the Bypass Economizer option for all HE indoor units.

During the product design development process, we decided to incorporate an external duct feature. This was provoked due to the fact that an internal bypass would increase the size, would severely increase product cost and delay launch by 12 months. While you all know that we are working on internal bypass with new and future products, we would like you to provide extra care and caution on the existing offering until the internal bypass option is launched into the market.

The current bypass economizer option offering consists of the addition of an extra bypass duct, two electrically actuated dampers and a control system. Bypass is achieved with the help of two dampers consisting of the face damper (normally open) and the bypass damper (normally closed), factory-installed bypass controls and field-supplied and installed ductwork that links the return air to the exhaust air.

When working with a customer on HE indoors units with bypass, please remember to advise them that the bypass requires field-supplied and installed ductwork that links the return air to the exhaust air. The Bypass Economizer’s brochure has duct size and duct routing recommendations by HE model types. Additionally, the product website has DWG and REVIT models available that show the need for the field-supplied and installed ductwork that links the return air to the exhaust air.
